Abbey Hotel Bath: Hotel Review

For me, there's nowhere finer than Bath. The town has everything; cute tea shops, amazing local cafes, beautiful gardens and a rich, wonderful English history that colours the town. If you’re looking for a mini break to Bath, we totally fell deeply in love with the Abbey Hotel Bath – located in the centre of town, the boutique hotel has a vibe, and it’s ideal for exploring all that Bath provides. For your next mini break, here’s what you need to know of the hotel:

The Abbey Hotel Bath: What to Expect

The Abbey Hotel is bang straight in the middle of town, moments in the Cathedral, your accommodation represents the finest in English architecture. In fact, the Abbey Hotel is a perfect example of Georgian england – your accommodation is made up of three houses within the North Parade, which go over the Paradise gardens and the Bath Abbey. Your accommodation was once The Fernley Hotel, during WW2, and has welcomed guests from all over the world. Today, this hotel in the middle of the city is stuffed with beautiful, unique art, plus some of the most glamorous toilets you’ve seen (seriously).

In fact, art is a vital aspect to the hotel. Owners Ian and Christa Taylor have installed a beautiful collection within the hotel, which features pieces from their own collections, too. The fine art within the hotel is specially curated, and from glassware to interiors, you’ll spot the amazing art and style detail that goes into the hotel from the second you enter.

The Abbey Hotel Bath: The Accommodation

There’s a range of accommodation to match all budgets. All the rooms are very well kitted out, and seriously comfortable – the standard double features comfy double beds and WiFi (not too you’ll need it), whereas the city view room has stunning views of Bath and beyond. For ultimate luxury, you can try a superior large double room, which features a double sofa bed – this room can comfortably fit 4 adults, and features a large sitting room, ideal for taking your Sunday morning coffee. Dreamy.

The Abbey Hotel Bath: The Food

The hotel’s restaurant is one of its high points. Allium Restaurant overlooks among the city's widest promenades North Parade – perfect for people watching. In the summertime, the restaurant would be fantastic for al fresco dining, as it’s huge bay windows allow light to stream in. When staying, guests can get some of the best breakfast in town – incredible homemade sourdough bread, great Full English with local sausages and eggs, and delicious porridge with honey and banana. It’s the perfect pit stop before starting your day going through the best of Bath.

The restaurant is all about casual elegance; for dinner, you may expect a relaxed and unstuffy atmosphere. Come here for a unique evening; the one thing Allium is seriously interested in is excellent food, wonderful wines and genuinely warm hospitality.Your meals are designed by Executive Chef, Chris Staines – think a menu of classic dishes, such as great soups, sharing plates and fish, alongside the experimental cuisine using all Chris's Michelin star creative talents. Your accommodation also boasts ArtBar, a fantastic bar serving some wickedly good cocktails, and great twists on the classics. Their Bloody Mary simply cannot be missed.
